Peaceful versus Violent Transition

When one makes a peaceful transition impossible, a violent revolution becomes inevitable.

Criticism

To believe in your hypothesis so strongly that you ignore contradictory evidence is not only unscientific but hazardous to mankind. Criticism is necessary for growth. Always remember that during a game, the audience make the noise and not the players! Be a player , accept criticism as graciously as compliments and be a winner.

Innovators

When it comes to creation of novelty and innovation , someone has to be the first. Innovators and influencers are originators of new ideas or techniques. They are risk takers, changers and pace setters.
They are highly motivated and determined personalities. Be an innovator.

Action and Reaction

To be proactive and not reactive; to take preventive measures against possible trouble, not to take action against those already existing.....it will be too late to deal with troubles when they have already become serious. This is like digging a well when thirsty or casting a weapon when the battle has already begun.

Kindness

When I was a little boy, my Grand Mum taught me to be kind. He told me to be kind to everyone even those who are unkind to me. In recent years I have started thinking otherwise. I sometimes  feel/think to be unkind to unkind people so that they can have a pinch of what it feels like....however, haven't put it in practice yet!

Uniqueness of Mankind

Sometimes you are unsatisfied with your life, while many people in this world are dreaming of living your life.

A child on a farm sees a plane fly overhead and dreams of flying. But, a pilot on the plane sees the farmhouse and dreams of returning home. That's life!! Enjoy yours.
If wealth is the secret to happiness, then the rich should be dancing on the streets. But only poor kids do that.
If power ensures security, then officials should walk unguarded. But those who live simply, sleep soundly.
If beauty and fame bring ideal relationships, then celebrities should have the best marriages. But those who live simply, walk humbly and love genuinely!
All good will come back to you!!!

Nothing Lasts Forever

Famed actor Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a photo of himself sleeping on the street under his famous bronze statue, and sadly wrote "How times have changed"...

The reason he wrote the phrase was not only because he was old, but because when he was governor of California he inaugurated a hotel with his statue. Hotel staff told Arnold, "at any moment you can come and have a room reserved for you." when Arnold stepped down as governor and went to the hotel, the administration refused to give him a room arguing that he should pay for it, since they were in great demand.

He brought a sleeping bag and stood underneath the statue and explained what he wanted to convey: "When I was in an important position, they always complimented me, and when I lost this position, they forgot about me and did not keep their promise. Do not trust your position or the amount of money you have, nor your power, nor your intelligence, it will not last. "

Trying to teach everyone that when you're "Important" in the people's eyes , everyone is your "Friend " But once you don't benefit their interests , you won't matter.

Any system not built on a foundation competence, merit while respecting seniority will eventually crumble.

Language

An average African comprehends and is fluent in at least three different languages. Most people can hardly express themselves in more than one language.  Your mother tongue is your first language, your identity and not contrariwise. It is your arterial language deeply wired in your brain circuits and impacts your intonation and accent. Thus, don't feel intimated when people complain and try to make you feel bad about your accent. Everyone has an accent! Stay true to yourself.  Be original. Be proud of your roots and attributes.

Leading a Change

Leading a change is one of the most onerous task one will encounter in life.

This brings into mind what one of my teachers used to tell me:

Say something new and everyone will hate you

Suggest people change and you will find yourself near the deep sea.

Try to force people to change and you will be dead before the change is realized.
